Unlike most air fryer recipes, do NOT preheat for bacon. Starting in a cold basket allows fat to render slowly without splattering.
Lay bacon strips flat in the air fryer basket. Slightly overlapping is OK โ they shrink as they cook. Do not stack.
Set to 350ยฐF. Cook regular-cut bacon 7-8 min, thick-cut 9-10 min. Check at 7 minutes โ every air fryer is slightly different.
You don't need to flip the bacon! Hot air circulates all around creating even crispiness. Just let it cook.
At 7 minutes check doneness. For extra crispy: add 1-2 more minutes. Watch carefully โ the difference between crispy and burnt is about 60 seconds.
Transfer immediately to paper towels. Do NOT leave in the air fryer after cooking โ it keeps cooking from residual heat.
Smoking usually means the temperature is too high or the grease tray is dirty. Cook at 350ยฐF and add 2 tbsp water to the drip tray to prevent smoke from grease burning.
